The Windsor Insider Experience

This private experience offers a relaxed and considered introduction to the landscapes, towns and riverside settings that surround Windsor and the Thames Valley.

Rather than following a rigid checklist, the route is carefully planned to flow naturally through the area, combining historic landmarks, parkland and village life at an unhurried pace. The emphasis is on perspective and context, allowing the scenery and stories to connect without feeling rushed.

Enjoy royal landmarks, beautiful countryside and places of local significance, with personal guidance and opportunities to stop for photographs, fresh air and a closer look at your surroundings. Choose the two-hour or three-hour experience according to how much time you would like to spend exploring on foot.

Route & Key Areas

The route combines royal landmarks, riverside settings, parkland and countryside. Areas may include:

The route is planned to flow naturally, rather than following a rigid checklist. Stops and the time spent exploring can be adjusted to suit your preferences within the booked duration.

Hotel Pick-up & Drop-off

We can collect you from your hotel, private residence or another convenient meeting point in Windsor and the surrounding Thames Valley area, including selected locations around Runnymede, Virginia Water, Ascot and Bray.

We can collect you from your hotel or another convenient location in the Windsor and Thames Valley area. Your tour time is dedicated to enjoying the sights, so you won't lose sightseeing time because of your pick-up arrangements.

Vehicle, Comfort & Passenger Numbers

Your experience takes place in a 2026 Volvo XC60, selected for its quiet cabin, smooth ride and air-conditioned comfort.

The experience is best suited to up to three adult guests for comfort. A fourth passenger may be accommodated if required, although the centre rear seat is more suitable for a younger traveller.

Walking & Accessibility

This is primarily a driving-based experience. Getting out of the vehicle and walking at stops is optional and can be adjusted to suit individual mobility levels. Guests should be comfortable stepping in and out of a standard SUV.

Foldable manual wheelchairs or walking aids can usually be accommodated in the luggage space. The vehicle has no wheelchair ramp or lift and cannot accommodate non-folding or motorised wheelchairs.

If you have any health, mobility or accessibility requirements that may affect your comfort, please let us know in advance so we can discuss what may be possible.

Children & Car Seats

Families are welcome. Parents or guardians are responsible for providing and fitting appropriate child or booster seats in accordance with UK safety requirements. Please mention any children travelling with you when enquiring.

Weather & What to Bring

The experience operates in all weather conditions, with travel in a climate-controlled vehicle for comfort.

We recommend bringing a camera or smartphone, comfortable footwear, weather-appropriate outerwear and sun protection on brighter days. Curiosity is always welcome, and questions are encouraged throughout.

Booking & Payment

Contact us with your preferred date, start time, tour duration, pickup location and number of guests. We will check availability and confirm the arrangements and total price.

We will then send you a secure payment link. Your booking is confirmed only once full payment has been received. An enquiry or an agreed date alone does not constitute a confirmed booking.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled start time are non-refundable.

If The Windsor Insider needs to cancel, a full refund will be provided.

Hourly & Day Hire

A private driver for shopping trips, appointments, sightseeing and days out, with transport arranged around your schedule.

Tell me what you have planned, where you need to go and how long you expect to need a driver. I'll confirm availability and provide a quote.

Hourly & Day Hire Rates

Hourly: £40 per hour

Half-day: £140 for up to 4 hours

Full-day: £240 for up to 8 hours

Hire is based on the agreed itinerary, including driving, stops and waiting time. Longer-distance journeys are quoted separately, subject to availability.

Hourly Hire

Ideal for shopping trips, appointments, several stops around the area or occasions when you would prefer a driver to remain available between destinations.

Day Hire

Private transport for a day out, a series of appointments or visits to several destinations, planned around your requirements.

Routes, timings and any waiting time will be discussed before your booking is confirmed.

Hourly and day hire are quoted individually, depending on the duration, destinations, distance and waiting time involved. Longer journeys and requests outside the local service area can also be discussed.

The Windsor Insider is a trading name of Heritage Tour Services Ltd (company number 16967963), subject to confirmation of the registered company details. We respect your privacy and handle personal information responsibly.

We may receive this information through our website contact form, email, telephone or WhatsApp.

We use your information to respond to enquiries, check availability, provide quotations, arrange and deliver private driving services and tours, process payments, communicate about bookings and handle any follow-up matters.

We may also retain relevant records where necessary to meet legal, tax, accounting or insurance requirements.

We process information where necessary to take steps at your request before entering into an agreement, to perform a contract with you, to meet legal obligations, or where we have a legitimate interest in managing enquiries and operating our business fairly and securely.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share relevant information with service providers where necessary to operate our website, communicate with you, arrange payments or provide our services. This may include Carrd, email and communications providers, and payment providers such as Stripe where used.

WhatsApp is operated by Meta and has its own privacy practices. Please refer to WhatsApp's privacy information when using that service.

5. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including handling enquiries and bookings and meeting legal, tax, accounting and insurance requirements. Information that is no longer required will be securely deleted or disposed of where practicable.

6. Keeping information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Cookies and website services

Our website is hosted using Carrd. The website and its embedded services may use cookies or similar technologies necessary for their operation. We do not currently install Google Analytics or advertising-tracking tools. This information will be updated if our use of cookies or tracking changes.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to request access to your personal information, have inaccurate information corrected, request erasure or restriction of processing, object to certain processing, or request data portability. Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to private driving services and tours provided by The Windsor Insider. Specific arrangements, prices and conditions will be confirmed with you before your booking is finalised.

1. Enquiries and bookings

Enquiries can be made by email, telephone or WhatsApp. We will confirm availability, agree the service details and provide a quotation before asking you to proceed.

For private tours booked directly with us, a date is not confirmed until the arrangements have been agreed and full payment has been received through the payment method provided. An enquiry or provisional agreement alone does not guarantee a booking.

For other private driving services, the booking and payment arrangements will be confirmed when your quotation is agreed.

2. Prices and payment

Prices will be confirmed before you commit to a booking. Any agreed extras or changes may affect the final price. Payment instructions will be provided directly, including a secure payment link where applicable.

3. Tour cancellations

For direct bookings of The Windsor Insider's private tours, cancellations received at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time qualify for a full refund. Cancellations received less than 48 hours before the scheduled start time are non-refundable.

If we have to cancel a tour, you will receive a full refund of the amount paid for that booking.

4. Changes and rescheduling

If you need to change your booking, please contact us as soon as possible. Rescheduling is subject to availability and must be agreed with us. Changes to other private driving services will be handled according to the arrangements confirmed when booking.

5. Pick-up and timing

Pick-up locations, destinations, start times and any collection arrangements will be agreed in advance. Please provide accurate details and contact us promptly if your plans change. Delays, late arrivals or changes to the agreed itinerary may affect the service we can provide.

6. Tours and itineraries

Private tours are planned around the agreed experience and duration. Routes and stops may need to change because of traffic, weather, access restrictions, safety considerations or circumstances outside our control. We will make reasonable efforts to discuss significant changes with you.

Unless expressly included in your booking, attraction admission, meals, refreshments and other personal expenses are not included in the tour price.

7. Passengers and safety

Passengers must follow reasonable safety instructions and behave respectfully. Please tell us in advance about luggage, mobility requirements, child passengers or other needs that may affect whether we can accommodate your booking.

Appropriate child or booster seats must be arranged in accordance with applicable UK law. We will discuss arrangements with you before confirming a booking involving children.

8. Circumstances outside our control

We are not responsible for delays or interruptions caused by circumstances reasonably beyond our control, including severe weather, road closures, exceptional traffic, public events or unexpected vehicle problems. If such circumstances materially affect your booking, we will discuss the available options with you.

9. Complaints and contact

I'm Paul Bruton, the owner and driver behind The Windsor Insider. Having lived and worked in Windsor and the surrounding Thames Valley for many years, I've built up a strong knowledge of the local area, its roads and the places people travel to every day.

Before establishing The Windsor Insider, I worked as a BSM driving instructor locally. That experience gave me an intimate knowledge of the area's road network and helped shape the calm, professional approach I bring to every journey.
